What is the process to get started?
Complete a one page memorandum of understanding with Good Steward International. This will include a few attachments of additional resources such as:
A document helping you select which teaching manuals you wish to utilize in your local context;
Translation guidelines for churches or development professionals requiring teaching materials in a local language;
Resources on how to begin savings groups, including a United Nations publication that is helpful in building support in local communities;
Savings group recordkeeping books, individual personal record passbooks, and more.
What can you tell me about the Savings Groups Tracking and Monitoring Software program?
This software is a powerful tool to help managers and overseers understand how program beneficiaries are using savings groups. Graphs, maps and Excel or PDF reports show statistics such as how many groups and members are in the program, meeting attendance, program dropouts, the dedication of group facilitators in teaching, GPS coordinates on maps displaying where groups are operating, group financial statistics, and much more.
Subscribing to the software is optional; however, once programs are operating for a few years, the software may add significant value to the churches’ and development professionals’ ability to effectively manage a savings group program. Good Steward International also provides an online demonstration of the software to those who are interested.
